Quincy Elementary School's (QES) Alder St. Campus held a heartfelt ceremony on Friday, October 20, 2023, to honor the memory of Mrs. Estelle Beer, a dedicated school secretary who served the community for over 20 years before her retirement. Mrs. Beer, a steadfast advocate for children and education, recently passed away.
The event was an opportunity for both current and former QES staff to come together and share their cherished memories of Mrs. Beer. Principal Jordan Blanton, teachers Megan Stewart and Rachel Labbé, along with current administrative assistant Kristine Bellah, spoke warmly of Mrs. Beer's long-lasting impact on the QES community. Each recounted their own interactions with her as students and how she remained a friendly face even as they transitioned into adulthood.
QES teacher and Quincy local Rachel Labbé remembers how Mrs. Beer always made her feel welcome and cared for on campus.
Former colleagues and Mrs. Beer's family gathered to listen to heartwarming stories and to share hugs, underscoring the deep affection and respect that so many held for her.
As a tribute, Quincy Jr/Sr High School art teacher Mrs. Danielle Frid created an oil painting depicting lemons—a nod to Mrs. Beer’s love for lemon drop candies. This painting will be displayed in the school office as a lasting memorial. In addition, a commemorative bench and plaque will be placed in the school's hallway, ensuring that Mrs. Beer's positive influence will continue to touch the lives of future generations.
