Welcome to PUSD. I always compare it to the things in the Goonies, like you can't beat that small-town, you go to all the movies that I loved growing up like Hocus Pocus and The Goonies and you look at all those small towns and your kids can ride their bikes down the street and I can you know go to people's houses for you and there's nowhere else I'd rather live in Plumas County there's nowhere else I'd rather be than Chester and my family feels the same way, there's the things that you can't get in a big city that you got here and it's all about those relationship pieces. One of the benefits of teaching in a small town with this type of community is that you have support from not only other teachers and administration but everybody in the town. When I moved back to Quincy, I described it as almost like the town gave me a hug. 
It's a wonderful welcoming place additionally it's absolutely beautiful. I love the mountains, I love the lakes, I love the hiking. I wanted a house and a dog and now I own my own house and I have two dogs so it's a wonderful place for that kind of Lifestyle. So what makes PUSD unique. One thing I can think of is the emphasis on Traditions that we uphold and maintain, our schools are the hubs of our community that's where the action happens, that's where the social life is and so honoring those Traditions, is very important to all of our communities. But I don't think we're hanging on to the Past, as much as we have our traditions, we really are moving forward, which is our theme for the school year this year. We're looking to the future and implementation of Next Generation science standards, what we're doing with technology and rolling out one-to-one computing for our students. I believe what makes us unique here in Plumas is that we really are focused on relationships, relationships with each other and all of our stakeholders. We are working hard to allow everyone to have voice.  We aspire to be reflective thinkers and Learners and provide an opportunity to hold people accountable, to build trust and transparency, honesty and respect. There's a culture of inclusion of support, of your all in this together and that goes from the top superintendent's office to the bus drivers and the custodians and the people who support what's going on in the classroom. I can't imagine being a part of a better staff were really a big family here. We work hard, play hard, we have a good time and we get the job done. Plumas Unified school district has been a wonderful place to work I've been a special education teacher for approximately 5 years. They value every student with disabilities and we are always trying and working our hardest to create equity within the classrooms with all of our student students. Here students aren't a number, they are not random faces you just see you walking out the door or walking in, and you're not going to see them forever. You really get to have these students here for a very long time. The seventh graders I started with two years ago in middle school are now my 9th graders in Earth Science I'm going to have those same ninth graders, when they become 12th graders in chemistry and physics and physiology, it's a very interesting and in a lot of ways unique opportunity to do that, because you really get to know students. Working here at Quincy high school I have had the opportunity to work with nicer people than I've ever worked with in my life and I mean that, I've been all over the state work with lots of people and this is one of the best groups of people I have ever worked for  and I can say that all day long it's really true. If you're wondering about coming, come on down or come on up or come on over, or just show up, because I don't think you will be disappointed.
